Hello There

This is one of those songs I picked up at a workshop years ago, and I don’t know who gets attribution. It’s a simple echo song that I use for greeting classes in first and second grade. The song is mostly pentatonic with a descending major scale at the end.

Sometimes we sing the song chorally with the teacher leading. Other times, students may lead while the class echoes, or we may perform solos during the echoes.

The song is also conducive to movement. Children can walk to the beat and greet each other around the room while the teacher maintains tempo on hand drum or tambourine. You can also encourage children to create movements for the song.
